Christa Duggan is a Los Angeles–based composer for film, television, and interactive media. Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she earned a Master of Music in Screen Scoring from the USC Thornton School of Music in May 2022. While at USC, she was selected for the Thornton Mentorship Program, where she studied privately with singer-songwriter and film composer Randy Newman, who continues to serve as a valued mentor and creative influence in her professional development.

Her musical foundation is rooted in classical training, with private study in composition, percussion, and piano. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, graduating summa cum laude, and was among the first students to complete Berklee College of Music’s screen scoring minor following its launch. During her time at Berklee, she was selected to participate in the NYU Scoring Intensive, where she was awarded a scholarship to attend the NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, NYU/BMI TV Scoring Workshop, and NYU/BMI Advertising Workshop.

Across both concert and media work, her writing explores vivid, genre-flexible sound worlds and clear thematic storytelling. As a composer, she has written original music for nearly 50 short films spanning drama, comedy, thriller, animation, and documentary, many of which have been screened and recognized at film festivals. Her work on the documentary short Boil That Cabbage Down was nominated for Outstanding Music/Sound Design at the Micheaux Film Festival.

In addition to her solo composing work, she has contributed additional music, orchestrations, part preparation, and arrangements to projects including Dora on Paramount+, Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, and Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie. She has also worked in the music department on a wide range of film and television productions, including Fellow Travelers, The Pigeon Tunnel, and Inheritance.
